HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Museum of Art will premiere a new exhibition of contemporary airbrush art. Under Pressure: Painting with Air – A Survey of Contemporary Airbrush Realism opens on Sunday, Oct. 24, and consists of 45 works, wide-ranging in theme, by 15 notable artists who have chosen airbrush as their principal medium of expression.

“The last exhibition to broadly survey airbrushed fine art that I am aware of was The Artist and The Airbrush, curated by Barbara Rogers 40 years ago at San Jose State University in California,” said David K. Wagner, the curator of Under Pressure.

Under Pressure is sponsored by First Horizon. Ginger Harper, Senior Vice President at First Horizon is pleased to provide support for the exhibition. “We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Huntsville Museum of Art that spans over a decade,” said Harper. “We are thrilled to sponsor Under Pressure and be a part of the Museum’s mission of bringing people and art together to improve the quality of life in our community.”

The show will be accompanied by a lecture and reception with a talk by renowned airbrush artist Don Eddy on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Tickets for that event are on sale now and can be purchased at hsvmuseum.org.
Under Pressure will be on display from Sunday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 16. Admission is free to Museum members and $12 for adult non-members. More information about pricing and hours can be found at hsvmuseum.org.
