WALTER GURBO

Walter Gurbo is probably best known for his 12-year, syndicated weekly surrealistic drawing column called, the Drawing Roomwhich appeared on the back cover of NYC's,Village Voice newspaper from 1977 - 1989.   These drawings became an iconic fixture of "The Voice" and are remembered fondly by many.

For the first time in over 30 years since their original publication, Gurbo displayed these original Drawing Room works at Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts in June 2011.

Gurbo is originally from New York City and a graduate of The High School of Art & Design and Pratt Institute.  For the last 12 years, Gurbo has called Upstate New York home and has converted a factory loft into a live, studio and exhibition space where he continues to make work in a variety of media.  Painter, sculptor, illustrator, muralist, set designer, set-painter and most recently filmmaker, Walter Gurbo is known to reshape and transform any medium he can get his hands on.
