About the exhibition:
Both alumni of Binghamton University & students of Don DeMauro, Anthony & John Brunelli are honored to present, Meanwhile / Traces / Erasure: A Retrospective In A Minor Key, works by Don DeMauro at Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts for the month of March.
Regarded by his colleagues in the art world as one of the most important draughtsmen of the 20th & 21st Century, recipient of the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship award in 1972 and Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Binghamton University since 1970. A poet, activist, teacher and mentor widely respected by his students over the past 4 decades as well as in the Greater Binghamton community and art world at large, Don currently is the owner, proprietor & director of Spool MFG - a contemporary art, film & performance space in Johnson City, NY.
The exhibit will feature a selection of works by DeMauro over the past few decades, spanning his career in drawing, painting and mixed media.
This exhibition is part of our continued effort to bridge the community and the university which we feel is integral to strengthening the intellectual and cultural base of our community. It is also a dialog between two contemporary art spaces in the Souther Tier who may have different voices, but similar intentions in building a significant artistic foundation for the Greater Binghamton community.
